What is worship?
Definition: The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity, “the worship of God”
Synonyms: reverence, revering, worshipping, veneration, adoration, devotion, praise, thanksgiving
Christians have been gathering together to praise God, to learn about God, to find God, to sing, read scriptures and share the amazing stories about the Holy Trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the same today. Patterns of worship have developed over the years and each church develops its own unique ways of worshiping God such as when to sit and win to stand, when to sing and when to pray.
At Grand Valley United Methodist Church we follow a pattern of worship that consists of the following:
- Opening Music
- Welcome
- Prayer
- Songs
- Scripture
- Sermon
- Benediction
- Closing Music
The Word of God is our primary guide and emphasis during worship. Our goal is to learn about God as well as experience the Spirit during worship.
We welcome all to join us and see if our style of worship resonates with you. We pray you are able to draw closer to God whether you visit one time or every time the doors are open.
May God be with you.
